Introduction to occlusion, cranio-mandibular disorders and
oral rehabilitation

General Objectives:
Level I Programme (Occlusion, Cranio-Mandibular Disorders, Oral Rehabilitation) is an introductory course which demystifies different approaches to C.M.D. and occlusion. It is intended to eliminate misconceptions and provide dentists with knowledge for performing a good examination with simple methods, making a good diagnosis, elaborating an adequate treatment plan and treatment for simple cases. It is also a means for the dentist to identify his personal abilities/ competencies.
Specific Training Objectives:
Offers practitioners :
A better knowledge of the mastication system and its different functions in view of a better
physiological understanding (normality).
Sufficient knowledge for conducting an examination (including dental and medical namnesis
using simple diagnostic tests before a relative to the patient’s health condition.
Sufficient knowledge to distinguish cases with neuro-muscular dysfunction from cases with
internal disturbances (C.M.D.)
The ability to recognize treatable cases with relatively simple methods
The ability to recognize complex cases wherein two choices exist for the practitioner : referring
the case or deciding to perfect one’s knowledge
Sufficient knowledge to distinguish the different schools of thought in Cranio-Mandibular
Disorders (C.M.D.) and eliminate misconceptions which come from these dogmatic approaches.
Advantages of this training :
Learn to choose the optimal maxillo-mandibular relation for a given patient.
Gain confidence before assuming cases in prosthodontics and orthodontics.
Format : three modules of three days each.
Each module includes one day of theory followed by two days of clinical practice with participants.
Limied to 15 participants.
