Course description
High prevalence of malocclusion, whether dental and/or skeletal, is commonly found in children and young adults as shown in literature review. Several ethiopathogenetic factors
are involved in development of malocclusion. These factors are genetic, environmental and functional. They are mostly present during the evolutive growth of the child.

Understanding the mechanism of cranio-facial growth
Functions (mastication, deglutition, speech)
Are basic for the right approach and timing to:

Recognize, diagnose and treat malocclusion in the very first phases of development, before an
abnormal compensating mechanism begins to be involved.

Final goal of the course is to intercept and treat malocclusion in it's early stages. |
Expected results are an improvement of orthodontic treatments for a better harmonic,
functional and aesthetic smile of our patients.
Participant will receive information on basic orthodontics. A review of concepts of occlusion
and malocclusion and instruments, theoretical and practical, to manage cases in office will also
be addressed.
Much attention will be given to documentation of cases and to management of patients
as well as use of appliances. |
